Anyone know what sounds like gunfire or cannon shots occasionally in Lagunitas?
This is the third time I've heard a series of these pretty late at night, any ideas?

SF Chronicle gives some well deserved love to Steve and Kate today: ""Steve came to me with his idea, and I said it would never work, the community was too small," recalls Malcolm Margolin, the publisher of Heyday Books in Berkeley. "He proved me wrong. But it turned out he wasn't buying a bookstore, he was opening a community center."" Shop local! (thx MM)

A nice holiday story: "A tiny shopping shuttle that has made a big difference to seniors in rural communities including Point Reyes Station and Inverness got a new lease on life this week as Marin transit officials renewed grant funding. Kathy Hart of Point Reyes Station told transit officials the shopping shuttle has been life changing for her and others, including a man she said emerged from virtual seclusion to join others on shuttle trips."

News about Kent Lake. Why is this West Marin news? Because Nicasio Reservoir is drained when Kent Lake gets to a low level. Unfortunately, Nicasio doesn't provide water for thirsty people or crops in Nicasio or make it's way to Point Reyes, it is pumped up over the hill to quench East Marin's homes and lawns. Nevertheless, we all tend to use a quick glimpse of the Nicasio Reservoir as an assessment of our state of drought. Here is the news via Jean Berensmeier and her son Paul:
Hi!
Tina and I just came back from running up to the Kent Lake spillway. Our timing was perfect. We actually got to see the water spill over the lip of the spillway! I've never been there at exactly that time! The big moment occurred at 8am. I took pictures to document this exciting event (first time in four years!).
Enjoy!

There was a coyote this morning just outside the Planned Feralhood cat enclosure, and Zackerie was taking a good look at him! Portola neighborhood - Keep your pets safe! This coyote was doing a nice long investigation of our kitties. Thank goodness they are safe and sound within our special fencing!
Sorry about the terrible quality of the pic - I had to grab it fast!
