Tigger is still missing since June 24th! If you live around the school or know anyone that does please call or knock on doors and search for him, especially around Manana Way and Viento. There are people that live here that do not participate in community and may not know Tigger's story. Outbuildings and sheds or garages need to be checked to make sure he has not been locked in anywhere. The Humane Society and Veterinary clinic have had no word of him. Please help find our West Marin Elementary School cat.
Call West Main School at 663-1014 (Linda is on vigil checking messages), Point Reyes Animal Hospital at 663-1533, or Planned Feralhood at 663-8497. If you find him please contain him so we can come and get him.

People were asking about all the sirens. I think every west Marin residence should have this bookmarked since general news stations don't cover West Marin. When something is going down this is the link to find out what it is and where it is in Marin County!

I got the information for the Fourth of July races out of the Point Reyes Light. Some local folks have told me they start at 10 and there is no food. So I'm completely confused and apologize for other folks confusion.

"July Fourth festivities in Inverness take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the annual footraces and food for purchase in front of the firehouse." And by annual footraces, I mean the 'once-a-year opportunity to have your pride crushed' in front of everyone.

A temporary beach closure on the Great Beach between North Beach and Abbots Lagoon is in place from Friday July 4 through July 6th to protect nesting snowy plovers during this critical phase. In 2013, of 11 newly hatched chicks, only three survived past the 4th of July weekend. It is hoped the temporary closure will protect this threatened species. (via Loretta Farley)

Someone picked up a basket of tennis balls from in front of our family house in Inverness last night between 6:30 and 9:30. They were sitting in front of the gate at 98 Camino del Mar in Seahaven. Maybe this person thought the basket and balls were abandoned there? If so, would you please return them? My brother, Xerxes Whitney, a tennis coach and sixth grade P.E. teacher uses them to give lessons and in his classes at Windsor Middle School. Just please bring them back and leave them where you found them, no questions asked. (via Dakota Whitney)

TIGGER UPDATE: Not good news..... He is still considered missing since last Tuesday night by Linda at the West Marin Elementary School - that is 6 days now. The person who had a visit from him offered him milk, but could not allow him inside his house due to the resident dog. There are kids back in the school now, and they are very concerned. Linda is asking for residents to keep searching, especially on Manana Way and Viento and in the fields surrounding. Talk to the neighborhood residents, and please - be careful when driving as we now know he is crossing the highway. The concern now is that he has been injured. If you see him, please contain him and call the school at 663-1014. Linda is monitoring the messages and will jump into action as soon as she gets a report.

So this week the Point Reyes Light has a fantastic photo from Art Rogers of a Great White that was caught off of Point Reyes and displayed out front of Tobys in 1976.
http://www.ptreyeslight.com/ar...
AND they have a lead story on the 'mystery shark bite' in Tomales Bay a few weeks ago, on the list of suspects apparently is a Great White: "Ms. Ludwigsen's bite has puzzled some of the nation's foremost shark experts: the cuts are not deep enough to match the teeth of a vicious predator like a great white shark, but attacking a human would be unprecedented behavior from docile bottom-feeding sharks that breed in Tomales Bay. Many of the researchers had guesses, but no one was sure."

Coincidence? I think not! It's Shark Week at the Point Reyes Light!!!

Just got a report that Tigger has been hanging out across the street from the school with the neighbors. He is probably off his normal rhythm because the kids and teachers are off for the summer, and he is such a social guy. Please be very careful driving that stretch of road to not hit Tigger!

Timmy who? "West Marin's Colton Baldwin and Peter Gallagher combined on a no-hitter in a 3-0 win over Novato South in a District 3 Little League 9-10-year-old game at Hamman Field. It came about three hours after Lincecum's gem in a 4-0 win over the Padres at AT&T.
