Some smokey haze in the air from a barn fire at the Giacomini Ranch late last night. Apparently you could see the flames from across the bay. Thanks to local firefighters for handling everything last yesterday! (Thx BE)

This happened a week ago Inverness. "A bobcat just climbed up to our neighborhood osprey nest (they come every year to the same spot) and killed the female who has been sitting on the nest for the last couple of weeks. Heartbreaking. Honestly, I love bobcats, but I also love our ospreys and was looking forward to the new brood." Apparently it was the female osprey in the nest while the male was gone. The bobcat snuck up on her. Sounds like PG&E is trying get the breakers that tripped back up and are bringing in some huge generators to try and restore some partial power tonight. But power will probably be up and down for at least the next 24 hours depending on the load. So prepare accordingly. (Thx RJ)

Crazy story: "Investigators now believe several hundred thousands plants (native succulents called Dudleya farinosa) worth tens of millions of dollars on the Asian black market have been torn illegally from bluffs along the Northern California coast over the past several years, in some cases stripping whole areas of the plant species, said Adrian Foss, a captain with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife." Anyone know what kind of gun this was? Via the PRNPS, "Park Rangers need your help! If you visit the park, you may have noticed the new message boards placed around the park. Unfortunately, the one located at Pierce Point Rd and Sir Francis Drake was vandalized by gunfire late last week. The vandalism occurred in the overnight hours of 2/28. Park Rangers are asking anyone with information regarding this illegal act to send us a direct message, or contact Point Reyes National Seashore Dispatch at (415) 464-5170. Thank you to all who help us protect Point Reyes and report incidents they see throughout the park. (mh)"

"Sir Francis Drake Blvd is closed between Platform Bridge Rd and the entrance to Samual P Taylor State Park due to a large tree down. Marin County Fire Department crews are working to cut up the tree but it will likely take at least an hour. Use alternate routes. Update: @marin county department Marin County Public Works is on scene and estimating the road will be closed until 10AM. Use an alternate route." - CHPMarin (thx LP and BE)

A rainy Sunday afternoon puzzle. A reader sent in the cover of this book published in Inverness (1976?) and is about Inverness. Does anyone know anything more about the book or the author? Some of the text from the book in the comments.
