The Mariners from Point Reyes won the West Marin Little League AA championship last night over the Diamondbacks at Warner Field in Woodacre. It came down to the very last pitch, crazy game. (Full disclosure, I'm on the coaching staff of the Mariners)

"Many of you know Byron, who for many years ran the kite shop, Into the Blue" here in Point Reyes. Our friend Byron needs a caregiver 7 mornings a week. He has advanced Parkinson's disease. Right now he can only afford a caregiver 3 mornings a week. He has been recently hospitalized after having a bad fall while alone over Memorial day. We want to be sure that Byron has the care he needs when he comes back from the hospital. This is urgent and we need the funds as soon as possible."

"Please join us for the 70th Western Weekend celebrating the rural roots of West Marin on June 2nd and 3rd and be a part of the fun! Pick up your entry forms for Sunday's Parade at the Building Supply now! And this year, you can buy some raffle tickets there as well, which help support our Jr. Grand Marshall Program. Also selling raffle tickets is Mollie Donaldson, currently our only Jr. Grand Marshall applicant, though applications will be accepted through May 21 (see TBYCLounge.org for application information).
On Saturday June 2, the Point Reyes-Olema 4-H Club will kick-off the weekend at 1pm with the West Marin Fair. This year they will have many projects and display, some small animals, along with food, fun & games. Then stick around for GRO Artists in the Schools opening celebration, the Salsa Tasting contest, West Marin Choir and Children's Choir, Taco dinner, Barn Dance, announcement of Grand Marshall, Jr. Grand Marshall and raffle winners and more!
The Western Weekend parade begins at noon Sunday June 3rd. The parade is followed by the usual events at Toby's Feed Barn including live music, the Farm Bureau's famous Chicken Barbecue, 4-H Desserts, Halleck Creek-Cow Flop, The Rotary of West Marin-Chili Cook-Off and Sacred Heart's hosting a Mexican food both this year as well!
We are still working out the details for the Non-Profit EXPO to follow the parade--contact Madeline Nieto Hope at 415-446-8587 for questions and suggestions!
We are pleased to have community collaboration for this annual activity and acknowledge the West Marin Lions Club for hosting this annual celebration with great support form West Marin Rotary, the Farm Bureau, Toby's Feed Barn and many, many others.

If you're in the East Bay, go check out the J.B. Blunk exhibit at the Oakland Museum of California. "Discover northern California's best kept secret in design and craft: J.B. Blunk (1926"“2002), a mid-century artist whose connection to nature governed his daily life. Inspired by Japanese philosophies of nature and art's inseparability and influenced by rural utopian communities, Blunk's muse and often his source of materials was the beautiful natural environment of Inverness, California" LINK:
